RHIANNON GRIEGO
Rhiannon Griego is a textile artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Rhiannon has found harmonic resonance in the philosophies of Saori Zen Weaving, a tradition she studied and has practiced the last 10 years. It’s free form, wabi sabi nature has moved her to create dimensional landscapes and perfectly imperfect worlds within her textiles.
Her work is moved by the land, the spirit and the deserts of the American Southwest. Her Mexican, Tohono O’odham & Spanish heritage provide artistic portals through which she communes with her ancestors to bring forth the legacy of textiles as timeless objects of art. She studied with a master weaver and Italian marble sculptor for her initial training but defines herself as self taught. Her work is collected globally and she has commissioned textiles in Ace Hotel Brooklyn & Four Seasons Cabo. She is most happiest while listening to ambient music, plein air weaving and exploring the landscape for bast fibers.
